About us

A brighter future starts here

When mainstream school isn’t a good fit and specialist placements are out of reach, it can feel like you’ve run out of options for your child. But that’s not true. Lighter learning makes your child’s future brighter.

We’re an alternative provision for neurodiverse children and those with additional needs, aged 8 to 16. With a special focus on building confidence and valuable skills, we teach through Functional Skills Maths and English plus pre-16 NVQs. Our mission is to bridge the gap between where your child is now and a future full of possibilities.

We don’t just teach – we lift, guide and lighten the way for children who have been failed by the system.

For every child

Qualifications that build futures

Your child's future shouldn't be limited by a one-size-fits-all education. Our programmes are designed to help them gain the skills and qualifications they need to thrive, whether that's moving on to college, apprenticeships, or other pathways.

Functional Skills Maths & English

These GCSE-equivalent qualifications are available from Entry Level to Level 2. They provide essential, accredited skills needed for college and future careers.

Skills for Life

Our programmes are designed for learners aged 8 to 16. We adapt our approach to meet the needs of each age group, from building confidence to preparing students for their next steps.

Pre-16 NVQs

These practical, skills-based qualifications give your child a head start. They are a direct pathway to further education, apprenticeships, and employment, opening doors to their future career.

What parents say
Kerry-Jarvis-Lighter-Learning-Testimonial
After months of anxiety, depression and quite frankly forcing our child into a situation he was so unhappy in, we decided to remove him from school. I also have a younger son that is Neurodiverse with complex needs. I needed somewhere where my son could go that makes him feel accepted, listened to, and that could offer additional support alongside his home education. That is exactly what we found at Lighter Learning CIC.
